INTER-LEAGUE WEEKEND: May 18-20

Chicago White Sox @ Chicago Cubs
Baltimore Orioles @ Washington Nationals
Boston Red Sox @ Philadelphia Phillies
Cincinnati Reds @ New York Yankees
Miami Marlins @ Cleveland Indians
Pittsburgh Pirates @ Detroit Tigers
New York Mets @ Toronto Blue Jays
Atlanta Braves @ Tampa Bay Rays
Texas Rangers @ Houston Astros
Arizona Diamondbacks @ Kansas City Royals
Minnesota Twins @ Milwaukee Brewers
Seattle Mariners @ Colorado Rockies
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim @ San Diego Padres
Oakland Athletics @ San Francisco Giants

Non inter-league series: St. Louis Cardinals @ Los Angeles Dodgers

_______________________________________________________________________________

BQ: Do any of these series’ look like World Series match-ups?

	Miami Marlins @ Cleveland Indians

Mostly because A.) I’m a Marlins fan and B.) The matchup brings back fond memories.

BQ: No.

	I’m most looking forward to the Baltimore Orioles- Nationals matchup: both are 1st in divison, and both are in a way suprise teams. Both teams last year were dead last in diviosn, and now they are making huge strides, it will be interesting to see who wins series

BQ: I see none of these as potential World Series matchups

	Mets @ Blue Jays seems interesting, and Red Sox @ Philly, but neither are World Series material. I like the Dodgers and Cardinals series this weekend because I’m a Dodgers fan, but I won’t have much faith in them until I see them face a big name team. They’ve won the games they needed to win against weak teams, but they have to prove themselves against strong teams too.

	I’ll be watching the Mets vs. Blue Jays.

BQ: No, I say WS is Tampa Bay vs. St. Louis.

	ChiSox vs. Cubs.

For these reasons:

1. I’m a White Sox fan.

No other explanation needed. Why should another series interest me more than my own team’s series?

	White Sox
Nationals
Phillies
Yankees
Indians
Tigers
Blue Jays
Braves
Rangers
Royals
Brewers
Rockies
Padres
Athletics
Dodgers

BQ: Braves vs. Rays is the only one that looks like anything close.

	I like the Rangers vs Astros the Astros take a few games even though they are a worse team and you can always see Nolan Ryan there he played for both teams although he was more of a Rangers but both teams sell Nolan Ryan memorabilia, and at the end of the year the winner of the series gets to hold the “Silver Boot” trophy all year.

I think Fenway and the "Green Monster" are becoming obsolete.

	I don’t see that happening anytime soon if ever. Its a baseball landmark, however they did tear down the stadium in New York and Detroit so maybe they will someday. I just can’t picture the day when there is no Fenway or Wrigley.

	No Fenway and the Green Monster are awesome..

i wouldn’t tear down one of the best parks still

	Boston should trade A gon to the Jays. NO its too much of a special place to boston and their fans.

	There have been several attempts to get a new stadium built in the past 15 years but land is hard to come by in Boston. But no, the Green Monster is one of the biggest icons in baseball so it is not obsolete, so much so that all plans to build a new Fenway Park had the exact same field dimensions including the Green Monster.

	Fenway Park is on the historic register. It will never be destroyed because it contains a lot of history.

I live in Boston. It would be great to have another stadium. I like the Green Monster. If they could incorporate that into the stadium plans of a modern ballpark, it would be great. However, there isn’t much free land in Boston. It is like New York City in density. We would have to put it in the poor suburbs of Boston.

	at one timne they was but then Boston agreed to changes .. then they stayed which they should
If ever they build a new Staduim it would never be the same even with a new Green Monster

	Tearing down Fenway shouldn’t happen until it becomes a hazard to the players or fans. There is so much history in that stadium that tearing it down would hurt baseball in Boston.

	Management has spent a ton of money renovating the park, starting in 1999 and continuing through last season, so it’s doubtful the Sox will be leaving anytime soon.

	I don’t think it’s going to happen unless it becomes too expensive to keep up or just flat-out dangerous. I don’t really see a problem there with Fenway.

	Try and fit him into the bull-pen to get him used to being in Major League’s again, and then if someone else is struggling, or gets injured, he can try and reclaim a spot in the rotation.

	I think they should let him return to the rotation and move Daniel Bard back to the bullpen and let him close with Alfredo Aceves shifting to the set-up role. http://www.redsoxlocker.com/

	The Roid $ux will have a big party with the drug$ when Dice-K Matsuzakaroider comes back! The Roid $ux do the drug$!
Go Yanks!

	Of course he will fit into the rotation..not in the bullpen, he has been a starter his whole career.

He will probably file free agency at the end of the season or even be moved at the trading deadline.

	Open a fresh case of new drugs.

	If I were them I would convert to a 6 man rotation.

I put Phillies vs Red Sox for sale on Craig’s list in Philadelphia. Got a reply, along with a cell phone number for me to call. The cell phone has a Boston area code. If I accept paypal, what are my risks? I would ship Fedex with tracking number and signature required. This e-mail did not mention paypal, just here is my number, call me.

	I would just call and see what they have to say if its u selling it will be hard.to scam if.its u buying im not sure.i would trust paypal

	The basis of Craigslist is to deal face to face with people in your own city. When you dont follow Craigslist’s rule.. the scammers are there like hawks after prey. It doesnt seem to matter what’s being sold

The scam they use with Paypal is ..
They’ll send a fake email saying you got paid. Only they just use Paypal copy paste letterhead, and have not paid you at all.
Many sellers will see the email and ship the item.
You must go on Paypal and see for yourself.

They can always file a claim with Paypal and say they didnt receive it
Then you go thru the ordeal of proving you did.

If you proceed.. ask more on Y!A about what the next step he proposes is. We see all the scams on this category.

Big red flags.
1) He will send more money than youre asking so you can pay someone, who he has contacted to pick up the item
2) He wants to send a Money Order or Cashiers check.
Which you will get back “stolen” etc..once the tickets and money have been given to his pick up person.

Craigslist typical scams and others.

Casey: Big Dig 2? LOL LOL MFAO

	If you know what “snafu” means, that’s the Red Sox right now. They’re digging a big hole for themselves – Big Dig – Part 2.

	They need some pitching

Cubs pitching > Red Sox now

Theo is glad he left lol

	No, we suck this year. Embrace the Celtics, hope they go until almost before Patriots training camp and try not to get too aggravated by the Red Sox this year. Unfortunately, they could suck for a while now. That doesn’t mean we don’t love them.

	I sure hope that they can pick up their game. Playing super sloppy all around. They just need to get their heads into the game and they will be fine. Also the one thing that really scares me is the pitching rotation, it has absolutely no depth. If this season the bullpen doesnt pick it up i think there will be a complete washout of pitching so some guys that can actually not give up a all kinds of runs can come in. You can score a million runs offensively but the pitching needs to hold down the other team so games can be won! Screw the yanks!

	Ortiz got into a car accident leaving a gas station. I bet he was intoxicated. It’s one thing to drink in the clubhouse, but he’s a hazard not only to himself but to others. I wonder what it must’ve been like for the person he hit to see a member of his beloved Red Sox in public in that kind of state? Tsk tsk.

	YOU ARE DELUDED, PUNK AND THE PUNK RED SOX ARE RIGHT WHERE US YANKEE FANS WANT THEM! DEAD LAST PLACE, YOU PIECE OF SHIT SISSY BECAUSE YOU GO A ND REPORT OTHERS A ND CANT ACT LIKE A MAN, BUT A RE A PUSSY ASS CUMEATING FAGGOT ASS COWARD! LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AT YOU, SISSY AND THE RED COCKS

	Has David Ortiz ever had an incident with drinking publicly? I highly doubt he was drunk on his way to the ballpark.

Going to Boston for our honey moon, a friend of ours bought us Red Sox tickets… So just trying to find out roughly where they are… I looked it up myself on the seating chart, but there’s 3 different "12′s" and I am not sure what the "F" stands for… I’m guessing Field?

Only info I was given was the following…
Section/Box 12-F16
Row A
Seats 1 & 2

Supposedly we are near the Sox dug out…? (Hopefully this is true lol)
Thanks cath!

For the record, we’re both huge Red Sox fans. We’re staying down in Hull/Nantasket, and will be staying a few nights in Cape Cod and Salem (She’s big on literature, so the Salem Witch Trials are right up her alley). We’re not the type to sit on a beach down south for 2 weeks… We love museums, touring around areas etc.

	What a romantic guy. Taking your bride to a baseball game on your honeymoon. What a great husband.

	ignore the asshole, if you are near the sox dug out then chances are your seats are good!
a day at fenway is always fun! have fun!

	Congratulations.

The best way to tell is what is the $ on the tickets.

If the price on the tickets is $130, then your probably in field box 12, which is right at the home plate end of canvas alley, to the outfield side of the Red Sox dugout. Canvas alley is the tarp roll along the right side of the field. If this is correct, you’ve got great seats.

If the price on the tickets is $55, then your probably in grandstand section 12, which is behind the Red Sox dugout up under the overhang. These seats could be great or not so great. Row A implies the first row in the section, which for the grandstand would be directly behind the loge seats. If this is correct, then you’ve still got pretty good seats and you’ll get more of a Fenway experience. Last time I sat in this particular part of the grandstand the seats were still the 1912 wooden variety designed for a 1912 body size.

The F16 is confusing to me too?

Seats 1&2 mean on the aisle which is good and bad. Easy for you to get in/out, but you’ll be standing up often to let people in/out of row. They don’t serve beer in the stands, so you have to go yer own beer. The way the Sox are playing this year, it takes a lot of beer to watch a game.

Fenway is a very intimate ballpark, most seats are good to great. The issues are obstructed view (which can happen in any of the grandstand seats) or being way up in the center field bleachers.

If your big fans, I’d recommend taking the Fenway Park tour, you can find about it at redsox.com.

Have fun.

solve algebraically: the boston red socks won 30 more games then they lost last season. They played a total of 162 games. How many games did they win?

	number of games lost last season = x

this season = x+30

x+x+30 = 162

x = 66

they won 96 games this season and lost 66 games this season.

note: its not clear if 162 games were played this season, last season or both seasons combined. I don’t have knowledge of baseball

	If the number of games lost is x, then the number of games won is x + 30. Provided that there weren’t any draws (none were mentioned), they could only win or lose any one game.

x + x + 30 = 162

2x = 132

x = 132 / 2 = 66

So they lost 66 games, and won 96 games, for a total of 162 games.

	let x be nos. of games lost.

then games won = x+30

x +x+30 = 162

2x+30 = 162

2x = 162-30

x = 132/2 = 66

so, games lost = 66

games won = 66+30 = 96

	We have two unknown’s in this problem, game won and games lost. We know they played a total of 162 games and won 30 more than they lost. So we need to find out how many they lost first in order to find out how many games they won.

So say;

Games Lost = L

(162 – 30) / 2 = L

Therefore L = 66

Now that we know they lost 66 games and we know they won 30 more than they lost we know that they won 96 games.

And we since we know that they played a total of 162 games we know we are correct because 96 + 66 = 162

Hope that helps.

	Lost=x
won=x plus 30
ie x plus x plus 30=162
2x=162-30
2x=132
x=61
so, they lost 66 games and won 96 games.
