Boston Red Sox baseball team

Every year for the last 30+ years I have talked about and believed to some degree except in a few occasions like the 1992 team, believed that the Red Sox had one of the greatest teams in the history of MLB that year. I believe it this year. Talk smack at me if you want to only the standings at the end of the season will convince me otherwise. For it is time for the Red Sox Nation and it is time to begin the season of the 2012 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox!

  3. Not good. Lost Kubel and Cuddyer, took a risk on signing Zumaya that didn’t pay off (though to be honest, I liked the move). We’ve got a really young team this year. Hopefully Gardy can get back to the magic he worked with those less talented teams he has had in the past, but to me this looks like a definite rebuilding year. Maybe 70-75 wins. Perhaps if we’re lucky we can get to .500, but I’m trying to stay realistic.

I’m pretty excited about this year with a full season from Ackley, the addition of a young power hitter in Montero & highly touted prospect pitchers potentially coming up mid-way through the season.

I expect Danny Hultzen & James Paxton, two of our “big three” pitching prospects (the other being 19-year old Taijuan Walker, considered to have the highest ceiling of the bunch) to be up at some point this year. Maybe I’m being a bit optimistic, but I think the Mariners can be .500 or better this year, even with the Angels & Rangers in the same division.

Why do you ask this question on a daily basis? Spring Training games mean nothing, the Red Sox being near the top and the Yankees being near the bottom have no bearing on how the regular season is going to play out.

Doesn’t mean two flips. Don’t sweat it. There was a team a few years ago that didn’t win a ST game until their 5th try. They had the third worst record and the worst in their league. No one remembers that but people old enough remember that they started the regular season35-5 and won the WS that year.

As you know spring training game wins and losses don’t count. The Yankees are playing down in Florida so A-Rod stays over at Jeter’s palace. Because these games are just exhibition games they confine themselves to heavy petting though. It doesn’t count until the regular season.

My thought is that spring training games mean less than nothing. BTW, I am a Sox fan.

In 2005, I ran into Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Bernie Williams, and Tino Martinez on the streets of Boston during a series with the Red Sox. They signed a piece of paper for me (all on the same paper), and i got a picture with them. Can anybody give me an estimate of how much the paper is worth? also, should I get it authenticated? How much value would that add? Thanks!

Without a letter of authenticity, I’m afraid the piece of paper is not worth anything. I’m sure there are some collectors that would be interested but as to the value, it’s only worth what a collect is willing to pay. As a collector myself, I would keep the paper under glass to preserve it. Having a picture taken with them had to be very cool.

Check with your local sports memorabilia shop in your area. I’m sure they can give you more information that I can give. Good luck with it. Sounds like a nice piece.

You should definitely get it certified, psadna is a good place to go for that.
As for an estimated value, I would say it’s more sentimental than anything.

I am in a fantasy team and I was thinking of keeping the Brewers or not, so I can put in Lars Anderson. I already have the Boston Red Sox, so I dont think I will need them because of their game against the Angels. Am I making the right decision?

The Brewers basically have the same pitching staff as last year, couple new guys but no one that really stands out. So we can go have of last years statistics. So basically youd be good right up untill the post-season.

  If this is not a keeper league I’d package Harper in a trade,cash in on his hype.His hype is way more then his production will be.If it’s a keeper league stash him on the last spot on your bench.Harper could eventually be really good,but no 19 year old has ever produced very much as far as fantasy stats are concerned.Ken Griffey Jr. was probably the best at that age,and he only had 17 homers.

  Hardy will probably not hit 30 homers again,but he’ll enhance the rest of your teams BEASTLY power.You are definitely strong in homers & rbis.Your team speed is pretty much non existent,batting average is average,but they’ll score a good amount of runs.Your pitching staffs are really good,so I’d give your team an 8 out of 10.

I am aware, but someone actually believe that the Mets are the second worst team in the league and the Marlins will win 93 games is an idiot.

This is not the total # of wins, its the over/under, and the Mets, I believe will come in with about 82, and if one of their pitchers is ready, they could win 90, I’m not throwing in the towel on 2012. They’ll be better than the Marlins and the Gnats.

Well, I could make a lot of money by betting the under on all 30 teams. Add up the total predictions and they’re 17 games over .500 for all of the major leagues.

While not a huge fan I know you enjoy the Yankees. As a Texan, I’d like the Rangers to have some outstanding performances, but don’t follow the sport well enough to know the strength of the competition. The number you posted though seems pretty decent.

are the boston orioles really that low? i didn’t think so. royals having a nice 80 wins? that’s nice for them. yankees sound fine and that’s all that i know. the nats i don’t care what they win cause i do like to watch them and they do try very hard.
